Molly McGeachin at The Project People, Patrick Bone and The Pleasance present:

GISELLE:REMIX

Following an acclaimed OFFIE nominated London run at Pleasance London and performance at The Royal Opera House, GISELLE:REMIX - a queer reimagining of the classic ballet - returns to subvert this timeless story of love, lust and revenge.

Co-created by Jack Sears and The Royal Ballet’s Hannah Grennell.

“A provocative, uplifting homage to the generational ties within the queer community that delivers on many levels.”

★★★★ The Stage

In this queer, lipsync cabaret retelling, Giselle is a hopeless romantic, raised on a diet of Julia Roberts and Drew Barrymore 1990s rom-coms, who comes to realise that the real world of queer sex, hookups and heartbreak is a far cry from Hollywood’s happily-ever-after. What follows is a journey through shame, assimilation, anger, acceptance and finally – liberation and joy.

All performed to a soundtrack of queer icons ranging from Judy to SOPHIE. A mixture of live performance art meets warehouse cabaret meets pop concert extravaganza. It’s Giselle like you’ve never seen it before.

GUEST STARS

For the Pleasance Theatre run Jack Sears and the Dance Troupe were joined by Queer Icons Kit Green, Jonny Woo and Lavinia Co-op who alternated appearances across the three week run.

GISELLE: LATE

Alongside our Pleasance London run we hosted GISELLE: LATE, a queer takeover of the Pleasance Theatre which featured an array of the most exciting emerging drag performers, cabaret stars, go-go dancers, opera singers including Freida Slaves, Aurora Kills, Barbs, CYRO, Shakona Fire and Oberon White.

After the take-over we transformed the Pleasance Main House into Club Giselle for a night of dancing, debauchery and disco until late.
